2027 Toyota Highlander

DriveRevu's catalog entry for this nameplate is keyed to 2027. Toyota's US Newsroom material (Feb 10, 2026; updated Sept 25, 2026) describes an all-new battery-electric three-row Highlander and labels it a 2028 model year vehicle, with XLE/Limited AWD 95.8-kWh sales expected to begin in early 2027 and XLE FWD 77.0-kWh in mid-2027. We cite OEM claims as manufacturer estimates — not EPA — and we do not invent crash scores.

What's confirmed (OEM press)

Per Toyota USA Newsroom:

  • BEV powertrain; grades XLE (FWD or AWD) and Limited (AWD)
  • Batteries: 77.0 kWh and 95.8 kWh (config-dependent)
  • Manufacturer-estimated total range (OEM; actual varies):

- XLE FWD 77.0-kWh: 287 miles - XLE AWD 77.0-kWh: 270 miles - XLE AWD / Limited AWD 95.8-kWh: 315 miles (Sept 25, 2026 table)

  • AWD system output up to 338 hp; FWD 221 hp
  • Standard Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, 14-inch multimedia, NACS DC fast-charge port
  • Cargo: 45.6 cu ft with third row folded; 15.9 cu ft with third row up (OEM)
  • Assembled in Georgetown, Kentucky; MSRP to be announced closer to on-sale

EPA: Highlander BEV rows were not present on the Toyota 2027 EPA index we checked in Batch 1 research — Score pending on EPA efficiency until listed.

Practical notes

This is a three-row family EV thesis, not a carryover gas/hybrid Highlander shopping guide. Treat prior-generation gas/hybrid mpg as a different product. Equinox EV / Model Y / other three-row EVs are the fair cross-shop set once EPA and pricing publish.

Safety

TSS 4.0 is OEM-described standard. NHTSA/IIHS ratings for this new generation: Score pending / ratings not yet applied on pages fetched for this pass.
