2027 Toyota Camry

If you want a mainstream midsize sedan that leads with efficiency rather than theater, the Camry remains Toyota's default answer. The trade-off is familiar: less drama than a sport sedan, more everyday hybrid range than most gas rivals. This page is research-based — we cite primary sources; we do not invent first-person drive stories.

What's confirmed

Toyota's current Camry generation is hybrid-only. For fuel economy, EPA's published rows for the 2026 Camry (nearest complete year on fueleconomy.gov at research time) show hybrid FWD LE at 51 mpg combined (52 city / 49 highway) and hybrid AWD LE at 50 mpg combined (50/49). Higher SE/XLE/XSE rows sit lower — for example 46 mpg combined on several AWD and FWD trims, and 43 mpg combined on AWD XSE. Treat 2027 figures as carryover only after EPA lists the 2027 Camry rows; we will update this page when they appear.

Practical notes

Space and seating are midsize-sedan conventional: four adults fit without novelty packaging. Efficiency is the headline buying reason — especially FWD LE configurations in the EPA tables above. Cross-shop against the Honda Civic hybrid and other volume sedans via our [Best cars](/best/cars) and [Value](/rankings/value) hubs.

Safety

IIHS rates the 2026 Camry (ratings apply to 2025–26 models) Good in small-overlap front, updated moderate-overlap front, and updated side tests, with Good vehicle-to-vehicle and pedestrian front crash prevention under Toyota Safety Sense 3.0; headlights rate Acceptable. 2027 Camry NHTSA/IIHS ratings are not yet applied on the pages we fetched — Score pending / ratings not yet applied for this MY until those org pages explicitly cover 2027.

Honesty note

DriveRevu axis scores (Driving, Comfort, Interior & tech, Value, Safety, Efficiency) stay pending. EPA mpg is evidence for efficiency discussion, not a 0–10 axis score. Soft “good for families / first car” language stays unlabeled as a numeric score.
