2027 Tesla Model Y
Model Y is the default midsize electric crossover for buyers who want Tesla's Supercharger access and a software-forward cabin. Trade-offs: less physical switchgear than many rivals, and service/ownership patterns that differ from traditional dealers.
What's confirmed
EPA (2027): fueleconomy.gov lists at least one 2027 Model Y L (20-inch wheels) row at 114 MPGe combined (119 city / 108 highway) with 30 kWh/100 miles. Additional 2027 trims may appear as EPA expands the table — refresh before purchase.
IIHS (2027 page; ratings apply to 2026–27):
- Small overlap front: Good
- Moderate overlap front (updated): Good
- Side (updated): Good
- Headlights: Good (Base and Premium/Performance variations tested)
- Front crash prevention V2V 2.0 / pedestrian: Good
- Seat belt reminders: Marginal; LATCH ease of use: Acceptable
Tesla's product page remains the OEM configuration source for range claims by wheel/tire package — wheel choice moves efficiency.
Practical notes
Range and MPGe vary with wheels and drivetrain. Use the EPA row that matches the exact config, not a single marketing “up to” figure.
Safety
IIHS results above are cited for 2026–27. NHTSA star ratings for 2027 were not independently confirmed on NHTSA.gov in this pass — DriveRevu Safety axis Score pending (prose cites IIHS; no fake 0–10).
